An excerpt from the above link: Jean's [b. 1640] good fortune lasted only for about three years. In September 1687 while he and nine other men were working in a group, Iroquois attacked and killed all, including Jean. At this time, the Lalonde family was living at the most vulnerable place at the point on the Ile de Montréal where the raiding party attacked. It was this tragedy that presaged the Lachine Massacre two years later.
